French Art Deco Wrought Iron and Molded Glass Chandelier Signed Degu – 26″

An early 20th century French three-light chandelier in wrought iron and molded glass signed Degu, this piece emerges with graceful presence, its three suspended chains drawing the eye down to a frosted glass bowl cast with crisp geometric relief and encircled by three matching pendant shades on gently scrolling arms. The circular iron corona is enriched with curling volutes and leafy sprays that soften the structure with a touch of natural poetry, while the blackened surface carries an appealing timeworn patina with only light, even oxidation. The glass elements show minor surface wear consistent with age and use but no visible chips or cracks, and the chandelier remains in overall very good condition, its materials and craftsmanship harmonizing into a quietly refined statement for an entryway, dining room, or salon. The composition reflects the cole de Nancys naturalistic sensibility while embracing the crisp geometry of early Art Deco. Founded by David Guron around 1919, Degu produced acclaimed lighting and decorative glass through the 1920s and 1930s, often pairing their signed shades and vasques with artisanal iron mounts, a union of savoir-faire typical of France circa 1925 to 1930.
